Today marks 323 years since a massive earthquake and accompanying tsunami hit our region.
The ground shook violently for several minutes during the 1700 Cascadia earthquake. The tsunami struck the Washington coast and traveled across the Pacific Ocean to the east coast of Japan.
See the green comet between now and early February in the pre-dawn hours! The glowing space rock E3 is about to make its closest approach to Earth in 50,000 years. Binoculars and a spot away from light pollution will help to spot it.

Plan ahead. Alaskan Way in front of the Seattle Aquarium will be reduced to one alternating lane for 3-5 days this week (watch for flaggers). Consider different routes like the SR99 tunnel. Drivers are requested to reduce speed around work and pedestrian zones. Thank you!
