On November 4, passengers aboard the King County Water Taxi connecting Seattle's waterfront with Alki Beach became witnesses to a feat of maritime mastery. After a massive barge laden with cargo containers broke loose in a windstorm, the barge headed towards the downtown piers. There are lots of ways to see salmon in Seattle. First, look over the railing almost anywhere along the waterfront. If you see schools of minnow-looking fish, those are baby salmon. Second, jump on an Argosy Cruise trip through the locks, and you will almost certainly see adult salmon splashing on the surface this month. Third, head to the Seattle Aquarium anytime and see salmon in the giant tank. Other options include heading to the Ballard Locks or local streams and rivers.
